In this article, we've compiled a list of the most common problems encountered by
soft-serve ice cream freezers users, as well as solutions for solving them without calling service technicians. These recommendations are based on experience operating and maintaining
freezers from various manufacturers.
Description of the fault: the device does not start.
Possible cause and solution:
1. No power supply - Check the power supply.
2. Blown fuses - Check and replace the fuse if necessary.
3. The thermal relay has been triggered - Press the STOP/RESET button.
4. Not in DISPENSING mode - If so, put it in DISPENSING mode, turn it off, and then put it in DISPENSING mode.
Description of the malfunction: the compressor turns on and then turns off after a few seconds, but the ice cream does not have time to thicken.
Possible cause and solution:
1. For water-cooled units: Water does not circulate - Open the water tap and check if the pipe/hose is damaged.
2. For air-cooled units: air does not circulate - Make sure that the rear wall of the unit is at least 30 cm away from the wall. Clean the condenser from dust and dirt.
3. Low voltage in the network - Purchase and install a voltage stabilizer.
Description of the malfunction: the device switches off when switching to DISPENSING mode.
Possible cause and solution:
1. Insufficient air or water circulation - See methods above.
2. Air was not removed from the cylinder before starting the machine and too much air remains in the cylinder - Open the valve and drain about 0.5 l of product.
3. There is no mixture in the hopper - Add mixture.
4. The pump is not working properly. Wet the gears with water or a mixture. Check the pump assembly for leaks. Check all O-rings and replace if necessary.
Description of the malfunction: the machine works, but the ice cream does not come out of the dispensing tap.
Possible cause and solution:
1. The liquid in the tap is frozen - Allow the liquid to melt and remove about 1 liter of ice cream before restarting.
2. There is not enough sugar in the mixture - Wait until the mixture melts and change the composition of the mixture or replace it.
Description of the fault: the machine works, but the ice cream is too soft.
Possible cause and solution:
1. Too much sugar in the mixture - Change the composition of the mixture, or replace it.
2. The machine has been idle for too long without dispensing ice cream - Dispense ice cream until the cylinder is filled with fresh mixture.
3. Ice cream is dispensed too frequently - Do not exceed the machine's capacity.
Description of the fault: Ice cream or mixture leaks through the lid/valve/door.
Possible cause and solution:
1. Worn seal/gasket - Lubricate the rubbing parts with food grade grease.
2. Damaged oil seal/gasket - Replace the oil seal/gasket.
Description of the problem: the ice cream does not increase in volume much (there is no airiness).
Possible cause and solution:
1. O-rings are leaking air - Check and replace, if necessary, the O-rings on the tubes that carry the mixture from the pump to the cylinder.
2. There is no sufficient pressure in the cylinder - Check that the cylinder valve is installed correctly. Replace the valve and rings if necessary.
3. The cover on the pump is not screwed on tightly - Tighten the clamps.
4. Poor mixture - Use a fattier or less sweet mixture.
5. The air hole in the pump is clogged - Wash the pump and clean the hole.
Description of the fault: the pump does not work.
Possible cause and solution:
1. Damaged gears - Find the damaged part and grind it down or replace it.
2. The mixture contains solid particles (nuts, grains, etc.) - Filter the mixture.
Description of the fault: The stirrer alarm message is triggered.
Possible cause and solution:
1. No load on the mixer - Not enough mixture in the mix hopper. Check the mix feed path from the pump. Check the amount of mix in the hopper.
2. The indicator does not work - Contact qualified personnel.
