Very often, when choosing a seller, customers are guided by price. And this is natural and correct. No one wants to overpay. One might even say overpaying is irresponsible. After all, entrepreneurs who operate cotton candy machines earn their money through hard work. Therefore, it is so important to choose the right machine—one that will be profitable for a long time—and to choose a seller who has experience selling this type of equipment.
For example, let's look at real cases that we have encountered and put them into numbers.
The average number of servings sold on a typical day is 50-100, and on holidays and weekends, 200-400. Assuming a price of 15 UAH per serving, this translates to 750-1500 UAH on a typical day and 3000-6000 UAH on weekends and holidays. These figures are for locations with high traffic, taking into account the peak season (spring and summer). The cost of production in the cotton candy business is low, so approximately 70-85% of revenue, depending on various factors, is net profit.
Cotton candy machine X, for example, costs 5,500 UAH. To save money, buyers look for the same machine at a lower price. Most websites with unrealistically low prices are discarded after just a few calls. After calling, the customer realizes that either no one answers the phone, or the prices aren't updated because the business is abandoned and not being run. Or, for example, the prices aren't updated because the business is unprofessional and not serious. Such sellers only waste the buyer's valuable time.
By eliminating the "dead" stores, you can find sellers willing to sell for 200-300 UAH less. But this is where the main danger lies. By saving 200-300 UAH on a machine, the customer receives only the machine, without detailed instructions on how to operate it properly and maintain it. Unfortunately, cotton candy machines are quite complex technically, and without proper maintenance, they often break down. This is especially true for Chinese and domestic machines. This results in situations we ourselves encountered 10 years ago, with little experience and trying to sell the client "anything and everything." Specifically, by saving the client 200-300 UAH initially and not providing them with proper instructions and advice, we ultimately caused them losses. The client, having bought the cheaper machine, inevitably finds themselves in a situation where (for the reasons described above) the machine breaks down on a weekend or holiday. One or two days of downtime on the weekend can result in losses of 3,000 to 12,000 UAH. On top of these losses, there's also a bad mood and "best wishes" to the seller and the device manufacturer. So, those 300 UAH saved can turn into 6,000 UAH in losses.
