Our company has long specialized in the sale of auger juicers, with horizontal and vertical auger arrangement.
In this short review, we will look at two models from the same brand - the world-famous South Korean company Hurom.
We'll be discussing the
Hurom Slow Juicer HU-400 and
Hurom Slow Juicer HU-100 , both of which are available in our store. The motivation for writing this article was to objectively evaluate these models, without the subjective ratings you might see on some websites.
First of all, we'd like to point out that the
Hurom Slow Juicer HU-400 is Hurom's latest and greatest vertical juicer. It builds on the foundation of the
Hurom Slow Juicer HU-100 , improving upon it to make it more practical, easier to assemble, and easier to maintain.
The first point we will look at is the flask mount. The Hurom Slow Juicer HU-400 has a jug that fits onto protruding brackets. When juicing hard ingredients, high pressure can build up in the jug mechanism. This causes the jug to lift slightly, disengaging the magnetic safety contacts and stopping the juicer. This ensures the juicer remains intact. Simply reattach the jug and motor unit, press the reverse button for a few seconds, and resume juicing.
The
Hurom Slow Juicer HU-100, however, features L-shaped clamps that firmly secure the jug and motor housing. Unfortunately, when juicing hard produce, there's a risk of damaging the juicer's screen and auger, as these clamps prevent the magnetic safety device from engaging when jammed, unlike the Hurom Slow Juicer HU-400.

Furthermore, it's worth noting that the 400 model significantly simplifies the assembly and disassembly process. In the Hurom SlowJuicer HU-100, assembling the cup, strainer, and auger required aligning all the parts with the positions indicated on the housing. Now, this process has been simplified to a minimum. Nothing twists and turns, and each part has its own groove into which it fits. As a result, the manufacturer has achieved what we all love: you can start up the new SlowJuicer HU-400 model without reading the instructions—everything is simple, convenient, and logical.
Let's look at the differences in neck shapes and sizes. Auger juicers are designed to squeeze juice from any type of produce, both hard and soft. The Hurom SlowJuicer HU-100 model features an oval-shaped feed chute, allowing for the loading of oval-shaped produce. However, experience has shown that this shape is unnecessary, as most produce still needs to be ground before loading. This is primarily because the auger method requires grinding small, hard produce. Otherwise, the juicer simply stalls. The produce must be removed, cut lengthwise, and reloaded. Therefore, the feed chute was narrowed by reinforcing it with a double wall in the areas where the oval shape was previously present. That's why the Hurom SlowJuicer HU-400 model features a new, reinforced, round neck that prevents unnecessary product jamming in the auger and excessive strain on both the motor and the auger and strainer.
The difference in the cooling system of juicers. Our many years of experience with kitchen appliances show that the more carefully designed a juicer's body is, the longer its internal components—the motor, control board, and other electronics—will last. Let's examine how the juicers we're reviewing measure up to this factor.
The Hurom SlowJuicer HU-100 model has ventilation holes located on the top of the housing, under the handle. This direct cooling method was previously used because it's the simplest. However, the disadvantage of bottom cooling is that during maintenance, liquid can easily spill onto the internal components of the juicer, causing failure outside of the warranty. We've seen several ice cream makers sent to us for repair after water droplets splashed onto the expensive electronic circuit board, causing the unit to malfunction.
The Hurom SlowJuicer HU-40 0 solved this problem with a new design that eliminates the handle. The ventilation holes have been moved to the juicer's safest area—the bottom—to completely eliminate the possibility of accidental liquid spills on the motor and control board. The entire housing now dissipates heat from the motor, ensuring more reliable operation.

We'd also like to highlight the practicality of the Hurom SlowJuicer juicer's finish. The
Hurom SlowJuicer HU-100 features a chrome finish that looks quite presentable and attractive. The
Hurom SlowJuicer HU-400 is available in two colors: white and gray. Experience with these juicers shows that the chrome finish only looks attractive when the juicer is new. With continued use, white and gray finishes have proven more practical – they are less prone to dirt and scratches. However, the choice of finish is a matter of personal preference.
We wish you a good choice!
