A gastronorm container is a container made of stainless steel, impact-resistant plastic, and perforated for steam cooking.
Stainless steel gastronorm containers are most often used for heat-treating foods; polycarbonate gastronorm containers are used for temperatures from -40°C to +99°C, and polypropylene containers are used for temperatures from -40°C to +71°C.
Gastronorm container sizes are standardized, allowing them to be used with equipment from various brands. The defining size is GN 1/1 (530x325 mm), which can be expanded to the following sizes: 2/1, 1/2, 2/3, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, and 1/9. Gastronorm container heights are also standardized and can be 2; 4; 6.5; 10; 15, and 20 cm.
Areas of application of gastronorm containers:
Gastronorm containers can be used in convection ovens, combi-steamers, refrigerators, bain-maries, serving lines, and display cases. Gastronorm containers are used in all food service and retail establishments that utilize heated display cases, refrigerated cabinets, carts, serving lines, cold rooms, shelving, etc.
The gastronorm container is intended for:
- for preparing various dishes, including sauces (for example, gastronorm containers for combi steamers);
- for baking as a baking tray (Gastromter containers with a height (depth) of 10 and 20 mm);
- for display (demonstration and storage of goods) in a shop window;
- for storing inventory:
- for transporting prepared meals (Gastrontron containers can be used in special thermoses for mobile sales).
